What is Stock Margin?

Stock margin is the difference between your livestock's market value and your loan balance. It represents your equity position.

Lenders require a minimum margin (maximum LVR) to protect against stock value decreases. If values drop too far, a margin call may be triggered.

Avoiding Margin Calls

  • • Keep LVR well below maximum limit
  • • Monitor stock prices regularly
  • • Maintain cash reserves for top-ups
  • • Consider lower initial LVR
  • • Diversify stock types if possible
