What is Stock Margin?
Stock margin is the difference between your livestock's market value and your loan balance. It represents your equity position.
Lenders require a minimum margin (maximum LVR) to protect against stock value decreases. If values drop too far, a margin call may be triggered.
Avoiding Margin Calls
- • Keep LVR well below maximum limit
- • Monitor stock prices regularly
- • Maintain cash reserves for top-ups
- • Consider lower initial LVR
- • Diversify stock types if possible
